Doctors Association Kashmir(DAK) in a communique said that Govt. is least bothered about the health care of the state which has been proven by it's laid back approach towards doctors.

Dr Suhail Nail,President DAK said that "we have time and again raised our genuine demands with the Govt. but the stepmotherly treatment being meted upon us is in tantamount to the nonchalant approach towards our issues" Dr Owais H Dar, General Secretary DAK added that "we have met the concerned authorities viz a viz our demands in Secretrait and Directorate Health Services but it seems that they are least bothered about our demands". Dr Naik further added that, "we have already met Director Health Services Kashmir in the last week of January 2017 and submitted our 6 files mentioning our demands for which he assured us that the files would be forwarded to Commissioner Secretary Health in next 3 to 4 working days, after that our office bearers met the director again in his office and he again assured that he will get the job done.

But surprisingly even after 5 weeks of 2nd meet with the director, it is unfortunate that our files have not been forwarded yet" there "We have also separately submitted the same files in Civil Secretrait also but it seems nothing is moving forward. It is also pertinent to mention here that we have the following demands i.e.,caderisation of Consultants/Medical Officers/Dental Surgeons,Pay Anamoly,Two and Half day salary,Risk allowance and Rural allowance,Doctors welfare fund,Ordinance for violence against doctors in addition to other demands with no financial implications for which the said files are pending with the Govt."

DAK said that "On being pushed to the wall and seeing no light at the end of tunnel we have been forced to issue a protest calender which will start with black band protest on 22 May then two hour pen down strike from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on 30th May followed by full day strike on 20th June and if our demands are not met during this period we will have no other option but to go for an indefinite strike from 25th June barring emergency services for which the whole onus will lie on the Govt". Our protest is fully supported by Jammu Kashmir Doctors Coordination Committee (JKDCC) which is an amalgam of Doctors Association Jammu (DAJ),Chenab Valley Doctors Association (CVDA),Society of Consultant Doctors (SCD),Society of Dental Surgeons Jammu Kashmir(SDSJK),Private Practitioners,Ladakh Doctors Association.
